Teens - Advice About Sex

Sex In the City (and everywhere else):

Sex and sexual imagery is everywhere! Advertising on television, the radio and in magazines often use images of sex to appeal to larger audiences and to get attention. There are clothing and jewelry ads that display women in provocative positions. There are songs that "talk about sex, baby...Let's talk about you and me." It is hard to get away from it, even on the internet. Click on this link for MSNBC articles about teen sex.

MAbout-Faceany times the representations of sex in advertising are distorted, exaggerated and wrong. About-face.org is a website designed to educate people about the dangers of provocative advertising. This site is an interesting and informative one to search.

Sex and You:

God created sex as a beautiful part of being human. Genesis records:

The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the earth and blew the breath of life into his nostrils. The man became a living being...The the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is right for him.

Three things form the biblical perspective of sex:

  1. Procreation - the purpose of having children and creating a family
  2. Identification - the purpose of developing a bond between man and woman through marriage
  3. Recreation - the purpose of enjoyment

Still, there is a lot of pressure out there - from the culture, from friends, maybe from a boyfriend or girlfriend, and from ourselves. How can you juggle all of these competing ideas? It is important to educate yourself about the physical risks and emotional risks of having sex before you are ready. Why is it a good idea to wait for marriage? www.christiananswers.net A really good website with lots of valuable articles on the topic of Christian sex can be found here.Christian Sex
